I Peter 1:6-7

•

  • Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
  • That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ

These blessings from God can lead us to happiness and rejoicing in the face of difficulties.

Our earthly trials are to sift out what is genuine in our faith. We should use our trials for learning.

In turn, learning from our struggles can help us find peace, praise, glory, and honour for Jesus and for ourselves.

When reading this scripture, “if need be” indicates there are special times when God knows we need to go through trials. Sometimes trials are meant to discipline us when we have disobeyed God’s will. At other times, trials are meant to help us grow spiritually and help us grow closer to God and the faith.

We do not always know why we face certain trials and difficulties, but we can always trust God to know what is best for us.
