“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
We can learn the following things as we read John 16:33
- Hardship is a normal part of life. Jesus never promised an easy life or a trouble-free world for believers. He states that trials and suffering will happen.
- Peace is internal: Real peace comes when we are united with Jesus. Not from having good external circumstances or an easy life.
- Courage is required: Jesus tells His followers, including you and me, to “take heart” or “be of good cheer”. This means having courage instead of giving in to fear or despair when facing hard times.
Jesus promises inner peace through a connection with Him. He commands us to be courageous because He has already conquered the world’s sorrows and evil. We can find true peace through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when we have real faith. – AMEN
